Since the platform’s early days, the stock Android home screen has come a long way. The Pixel Launcher now defines what a typical Android smartphone home screen/app drawer should look like. Back in January, it was discovered that Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 contained a hidden feature flag that could allow the system to force an app icon to use a monochrome avatar even if the developer has not provided one. Although it’s no secret that many developers still don’t support themed icons for their apps, the ability to “force” the icon to adapt to the colour scheme of the wallpaper sounded like a welcome change.
