Google worked a significant amount of time designing the dual-axis, quad-cam synchronised hinge to ensure that there was no gap when the Pixel Fold was closed. The Pixel Fold opens and closes smoothly thanks to what Google calls a 180-degree fluid friction hinge, with the various postures holding it steady and tight magnets keeping it shut. Google also boasts about its stainless steel exterior, which is said to be scratch resistant. It coordinates with the frosted back glass, which is made with post-recycled resins and recycled adhesives.
