All Facebook Messenger users will receive encrypted chats later this year, and the Messenger Lite app will be discontinued entirely. The transition was described as “an incredibly complex and challenging engineering puzzle” by Meta. However, the change is greatly appreciated because every messaging service should be end-to-end encrypted.
