Google announced in May that the Ultra HDR format would be included in Android 14. When necessary, this is a backward-compatible HDR format that will downgrade to SDR (standard dynamic range). Assume you capture an HDR image but intend to view it on a non-HDR display. The system will actually reduce that to SDR.
