Next month, Google will outright prohibit apps from recording phone calls. The company will discontinue the features that call recording applications use to access the actual calls.
Access is made possible thanks to accessibility technology, which aims to enable the phone to adapt to users with various needs. However, it can also be used to access and store the audio from phone calls. On May 11, these modifications will take effect, and as a result, no apps will be able to record calls. It is unclear whether developers will abide by the decision or if Google will be required to remove applications that do not from the online store.
