Shortwave is the classic example of a “Company employee leaves company and makes a product that the company used to make.” Shortwave is an email client created by an ex-Google employee that has similar functionality to Inbox. It spent a long time in beta testing before receiving a stable release. As with most apps, it was first available on iOS before making its way to Android, but it is now available on the Play Store.
