There is not an obvious explanation why Twitter is leaving the voluntary Code of Practise against disinformation at the moment. Due to the lack of a communication department, sources have been unable to contact Twitter for comment. Thierry Breton, too, does not provide an explanation for his departure, but he sends a strong message to Twitter.
Thierry Breton makes it apparent in his tweet that Twitter can run, but it cannot hide. He emphasises that their obligations within the EU’s regions remain unchanged, regardless of whether they are a part of the voluntary Code of Practise against disinformation.
