Some of Meta’s recent updates added support for captioning documents, allowing you to provide context for a file without having to send a follow-up message. A new beta feature could take things a step further by adding captions to forwarded messages for context.
According to WABetaInfo, the messaging app’s v2.23.8.22 beta now provides an additional contextual convenience when forwarding other file formats. You can replace WhatsApp’s auto-generated file description (which appears beside the thumbnail preview for documents) with your own text that better describes the file.
