Ambient mode has been significantly improved in a new update to the YouTube app for Android and iOS devices. Although this feature was made official about a year ago, its use for full-screen videos on Android and iOS devices has been inconsistent. This feature appears to vanish in full-screen mode, but when users stream in portrait mode, the feature works as intended.
