Monetization on YouTube required 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours, and/or 10 million Shorts views. The new requirements significantly reduce that, allowing creators to earn money for their videos much earlier in the process of building out a channel. YouTube goes on to say that unlocking monetization via these milestones will also unlock fan funding options like memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. YouTube Shopping will also allow creators to promote their own products.
