Samsung One UI 8.5 Tracker: 44 Devices, June AI Features
Samsung has executed one of the fastest and most comprehensive software rollouts in its modern history. The stable, Android 16-based One UI 8.5 deployment for all 44 confirmed Galaxy devices is complete in just over a month – moving from the Galaxy S26’s pre-installed debut through the full flagship lineup, the foldable range, tablets, and down to budget A-series, M-series, and F-series devices. The Galaxy A15 4G and Galaxy A24 in South Korea received their stable One UI 8.5 builds this week, marking the final wave of the primary rollout.
Simultaneously, Samsung’s June 2026 maintenance release is delivering something more than a routine security patch for select devices – specifically backporting Galaxy AI features that were missing from the original One UI 8.5 stable build to the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold7. The June update contains 44 Android and One UI vulnerability patches alongside these feature additions, rising to 45 fixes for devices running Exynos chipsets.
What One UI 8.5 Actually Is – and What It Is Not
One UI 8.5 is built on Android 16 – the same Android version as One UI 8.0. It is Samsung’s mid-cycle feature update, sitting between One UI 8.0 and the upcoming One UI 9, which is based on Android 17 and expected to launch this summer with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at Unpacked on July 22.
One UI 8.5 is not a new Android release. Its core purpose was to bring the Galaxy AI features that launched exclusively on the Galaxy S26 series in March 2026 to Samsung’s broader device portfolio. The S26 launched with One UI 8.5 pre-installed. Every other device received it as an over-the-air update starting May 6, 2026, in South Korea, expanding globally from May 11.
The headline features that One UI 8.5 brings to eligible older devices include Call Screening – where Bixby answers calls from unknown numbers, asks the caller’s purpose, and shows a live transcript – Agentic AI for multi-step task execution across apps using plain language, Creative Studio for AI image and video generation, Camera AI tools, and Audio Eraser. Budget A-series and M-series devices receive a subset of these features under the “Awesome Intelligence” label rather than the full Galaxy AI suite.
The June Update: AI Features Missing From Stable One UI 8.5 Are Now Arriving
The June 2026 maintenance release revealed an uncomfortable truth about the original One UI 8.5 stable rollout: it was not complete. Three Galaxy AI features that shipped with the Galaxy S26 and were expected to arrive in One UI 8.5 for the S25 were absent when the stable build landed in May. Samsung spent roughly five months testing One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S25 series across ten beta builds. Users noticed the gaps immediately. The June update closes most of them.
The Three Features Coming to Galaxy S25 Series
Prioritize Notifications uses on-device Galaxy AI to analyse incoming alerts and reorder them by importance, placing time-sensitive and critical notifications at the top of the notification shade. The ranking system is based on notification content and device usage patterns. One important limitation: the feature only processes notifications in the same language as the phone’s system language. Users who receive messages in multiple languages will see mixed results until Samsung addresses the language constraint.
Summarize Notifications – also called Notification Highlights – collapses busy group chat threads and stacked email conversations into short, plain-language summaries displayed directly in the notification shade. Rather than scrolling through dozens of individual alerts from a single ongoing conversation, users see a condensed overview that captures the key information without opening each notification individually.
File Summaries integrates directly into the My Files app, generating AI-powered summaries of supported file types – PDF documents, plain text files, and voice recordings – directly from the file preview pane. Users can get the essence of a document without opening it in a dedicated viewer.
What the Galaxy Z Fold7 Gets – and Does Not Get
The Galaxy Z Fold7 received two of the three June AI feature additions with firmware build F966BXXUABZF1 at approximately 932 MB carrying the June 5, 2026 security patch.
The Fold7 receives Prioritize Notifications and File Summaries. It does not receive Summarize Notifications with this update. Samsung has not explained the omission. Given that the Fold7 and S25 share the same underlying Snapdragon 8 Elite hardware, the exclusion is likely a software-side staging decision rather than a hardware limitation.
What the Galaxy S24 Series Does Not Get
The Galaxy S24 series is receiving the June 2026 security patch – 44 CVE fixes – and nothing more. The AI notification features being added to the S25 are not coming to the S24 with this update. Samsung confirmed this gap directly, and it signals the company’s intent to use AI feature availability as a differentiator between the current flagship generation and the previous one, even within the same One UI 8.5 framework.
The Feature Gap That Still Exists – S25 vs S26
The June update substantially closes the AI feature gap between the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26, but it does not eliminate it. Several S26 capabilities remain exclusive to the 2026 flagship as of the June update:
Now Nudge – proactive AI suggestions based on context and scheduled events, distinct from the Prioritize Notifications system.
24MP camera support – the S26’s primary camera resolution option is not available on the S25 hardware configuration.
Video softening – a camera processing feature for video capture on the S26 that has not been confirmed for S25 backport.
Fingerprint accuracy booster – an S26-exclusive enhancement to the under-display fingerprint sensor recognition accuracy.
Samsung has not confirmed timelines for backporting any of these remaining features to the S25 or indicated whether hardware differences make some of them impossible to bring forward. The feature gap could widen again before Samsung fully addresses it, as One UI 9 development will introduce new S26-first features that restart the cycle.

One UI 9 – The Next Chapter
Samsung is running parallel tracks: completing the One UI 8.5 rollout for legacy devices while actively developing One UI 9 – the Android 17-based update – for its most recent hardware.
The One UI 9 beta is currently available for the Galaxy S26 series only, with the beta testing period expected to continue through the end of July 2026. Samsung’s engineering focus has now shifted toward One UI 9 preparation as the One UI 8.5 cycle reaches its final maintenance phase.
The official One UI 9 rollout schedule: Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 launch with One UI 9 pre-installed at Samsung Unpacked London on July 22, 2026. The Galaxy S26 series receives stable One UI 9 in August or early September. Earlier Galaxy devices follow on the staggered schedule Samsung publishes monthly.
For Galaxy S22, S23, and S24 owners: One UI 8.5 is your current update destination and likely your final mid-cycle update. One UI 9 eligibility for pre-S25 devices has not been confirmed. Track Samsung’s monthly software eligibility charts in the Samsung Members app for the latest information on your device’s update roadmap.
